Chocolate Peppermint Fudge Bars (Gluten- & Dairy-Free)

When the holidays hit, chocolate and peppermint become the ultimate duo... rich, refreshing, and nostalgic. But most peppermint desserts come with a side of refined sugar, dairy, and inflammatory oils that leave you feeling tired and bloated after just one bite.

That’s why I created these Chocolate Peppermint Fudge Bars, a dessert that tastes decadent but is built on nutrient-rich ingredients that support your gut, hormones, and energy levels.

They’re silky, satisfying, and require zero baking. Store them in the fridge for an easy treat that impresses guests and makes your body thank you later.

Ingredients (Makes 10–12 small bars)

  • ½ cup almond butter

  • ¼ cup coconut oil, melted

  • 3 tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup or raw honey

  • ¼ tsp peppermint extract

  • Pinch of sea salt

Optional toppings:

  • Crushed peppermint or cacao nibs

  • Melted dark chocolate drizzle

  1. Line a small loaf pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together almond butter, melted coconut oil, cacao powder, maple syrup, peppermint extract, and sea salt until smooth and glossy.

  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

  4. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or until firm.

  5. Slice into bars and top with crushed peppermint or a drizzle of dark chocolate if desired.

Store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.

Health Benefits:

These fudge bars prove that dessert can support your health goals, not sabotage them.

  1. Almond butter provides healthy fats and magnesium, which calm the nervous system and support hormone production.
  2. Coconut oil is rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) that feed the brain and stabilize energy.
  3. Raw cacao delivers antioxidants and magnesium, helping reduce stress and support serotonin (your feel-good neurotransmitter).
  4. Peppermint supports digestion by relaxing smooth muscles in the GI tract and adds that festive flavor everyone loves.

Together, these ingredients create a blood-sugar-balanced dessert that satisfies cravings while nourishing your body.

Tips for Perfect Fudge Texture

  • Use runny almond butter, the natural kind works best for smooth texture.

  • For thicker bars, double the recipe and use an 8x8-inch pan.

  • Add collagen powder for a protein boost that enhances gut healing.

Enjoy these bars with a cup of peppermint tea or a matcha latte for the perfect cozy combo. They also make great edible gifts, just wrap them in parchment and tie with twine.
